Natural disasters can cause a rupture of the daily routine with an essential impact on the local resources and the standard functionality of the population. It is critical that as health care personnel, we are familiar with different types of disasters and their plans of action. A fundamental part of our response is to be familiar with our hospital’s plan of action and the role that we play in it. Intensive care units need to be involved in all preparedness efforts, so everyone can assess the strengths and weaknesses of our services; we also must be familiar with the intensive care evacuation plan.en_US
