Exsanguination is a syndrome defined as extreme form of hemorrhage that if not surgically controlled will lead to death. This chapter defines the syndrome and describes the injuries prone to cause this most extreme form of hemorrhage. It describes the parameters to institute damage control, as well as outcomes with statistical validation. It also describes the massive transfusion protocol (MTP) instituted immediately to deal with these injuries.en_US
