El objetivo de esta investigación radica en la realización de la cartografía de susceptibilidad y
vulnerabilidad de la zona estudiada para aportar un material eficiente que sirva de base en la
actualización de información y la elaboración de futuras investigaciones donde se planteen
soluciones inmediatas a la problemática que encierra este trabajo.
La zona estudiada fue escogida por la carencia de datos sobre la situación que presenta la misma
y la acumulación de antecedentes que han dejado cientos de personas desplazadas y sin terreno
para actividades agropecuarias. El área de estudio es afectada con periodicidad por la crecida del
Estudio de Peligro y Vulnerabilidad Ante Inundaciones por Lluvias Intensas de la Cuenca del Arroyo Dajao, Santo Domingo Norte que suele salir de su cauce en temporadas ciclónicas donde se presentan fuertes
precipitaciones, debido a la condición climática y caracterización de los suelos del área, las aguas
se acumulan y van esparciéndose lentamente hasta inundar el terreno con pendiente baja.
