Relación entre el pH salival y la enfermedad de caries dental en niños de edades de 6 a 13 años que acuden a la consulta en el área de Odontopediatría la clínica Odontológica Dr. René Puig Bentz de la Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, en el periodo mayo-agosto 2017.
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo de corte transversal con el objetivo de determinar la relación entre el pH salival y la enfermedad de caries dental en niños de 6 a 13 años. Se utilizó como herramienta de recolección de datos un formulario de evaluación de riesgo de caries, el índice CPOD y tirillas para medir el pH salival, con el fin de determinar la relación entre el pH salival y la enfermedad de caries dental, así como el nivel de riesgo de caries más frecuente, la edad y género con mayor riesgo de caries. Se evaluaron 40 niños, 20 que pertenecían al grupo control (ausencia de la enfermedad de caries) y 20 del grupo experimental (con la enfermedad de caries dental). Los datos arrojaron que la edad y el género con mayor riesgo de caries con respecto al pH salival va de 6-9 años y el género es de sexo femenino, en cuanto al nivel de riesgo de caries más frecuente el 85% del grupo experimental presento un alto riesgo de caries y el grupo control presento un 70% con alto riesgo de caries. En conclusión no se encontró ninguna relación entre el nivel de riesgo de caries y el pH salival debido a que de 40 pacientes solo 3(7.5%) presentaron un pH ácido y 37(92.5%) un pH neutro.
