Abstract
In the Hispanic Caribbean there has been a marked tendency to create literary narratives, based on events documented by history, at different stages of the development of nations. Undoubtedly this shows the interest of various writers in examining the past to project to the public complementary visions and particular points of view of the events and to prop up the identity features of the cultures of their peoples. At the same time, when they are published, some works usually provoke controversies and questions on the part of those who try to find in the narratives reliable manifestations of past events, a claim that is opposed to some of the purposes of literary creation
