Prevalencia de encia insertada y factores que la modifican en pacientes con enfermedad periodontal en el área de periodoncia de la clínica Dr. René Puig Bentz de la Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, período Enero 2017
Abstract
Un ancho suficiente de encía insertada tiene importancia en el mantenimiento de la salud periodontal, así como, en el pronóstico de distintos procedimientos restauradores y quirúrgicos, ya que actúa como una barrera frente a distintas agresiones; pero éste puede verse afectado por algunos factores observados en este estudio. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la prevalencia del ancho de encía insertada y los factores modificadores de la misma, en los pacientes que fueron atendidos en el área de Periodoncia de la clínica Dr. René Puig Bentz de la Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña durante el periodo Enero 2017. Se midió la cantidad de encía insertada de la cara vestibular de los dientes en 40 pacientes, y se valoró la presencia de recesiones gingivales y la inserción del frenillo labial. La prevalencia del ancho de encía insertada en pacientes con gingivitis fue de 4.40mm y en periodontitis fue de 3.18mm. El factor más frecuente en la modificación de la encía insertada fue la inserción del frenillo labial. El ancho de encía insertada según la presencia de recesión gingival fue de 2.61mm y la variación del ancho de encía insertada según la inserción del frenillo labial fue la siguiente, para la inserción baja del frenillo fue de 3.50mm, en la inserción media fue de 3.72mm y por ultimo en la inserción alta del frenillo labial fue de 2.35mm. Esta investigación confirma que estos factores influyen en la modificación del ancho de encía insertada, por lo que se recomienda tomarlos en cuenta.
