dc.description.abstractSe trata de un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal con recolección de datos prospectivo, con el propósito de identificar como perciben su calidad de vida los pacientes con otitis media crónica (OMC) del centro de diagnóstico, medicina avanzada, de conferencias médicas y telemedicina (CEDIMAT) durante el periodo marzo-agosto 2019. El sexo predominante en el estudio fue el femenino con un 56.6 por ciento. El mayor número de pacientes fueron procedentes de santo domingo con un 56.6 por ciento. El subtipo de otitis media crónica más frecuente fue la perforación marginal con colesteatoma en un 41.0 por ciento. En cuanto a la percepción de la calidad de vida el 39.9 por ciento de los pacientes coinciden en que el problema es tan mal como se puede presentar. El subtipo que brindo peor calidad de vida a los pacientes fue perforación marginal con colesteatoma en un 40.0 por ciento, seguido por la perforación central con un 30.0 por ciento. El 82 por ciento de los pacientes fueron calificados como susceptibles de recibir tratamiento quirúrgico. Los síntomas más frecuentes fueron la otorrea con un 89.9 por ciento y la hipoacusia con un 83.3 por ciento. En lo referente a la Encuesta de Oído Crónico, la OMC con perforación marginal con colesteatoma obtuvo resultado moderado en el 33.3 por ciento y resultado grave un 9.09 por ciento, seguido de la OMC con perforación central con resultado moderado en un 33.3 por ciento. En cuanto al Examen del Resultado de la Otitis Media Crónica (COMOT-15) pacientes con OMC con perforación marginal con colesteatoma obtuvieron resultado moderado el 33.3 por ciento, grave un 6.0 por ciento y leve el 3.0 por ciento, la OMC con perforación central con resultado moderado en un 30.3 por ciento y grave en el 3.0 por ciento. En lo que concierne al uso de infusiones naturales, el orégano poleo fue el más usado en un 36.0 por ciento. Optaron por la cirugía el 70.0 por ciento de los pacientes, predominando el sexo femenino. This is an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study with prospective data collection, with the purpose of identifying how patients with chronic otitis media (OMC) perceive their quality of life in the diagnostic center, advanced medicine, medical conferences and telemedicine (CEDIMAT) during the period March-August 2019. The predominant sex in the study was female with 56.6 percent. The largest number of patients was from Santo Domingo with 56.6 percent. The most frequent chronic otitis media subtype was marginal perforation with cholesteatoma at 41.0 percent. Regarding the perception of the quality of life, 39.9 percent of patients agree that the problem is as bad as it can occur. The subtype that gave patients the worst quality of life was marginal perforation with cholesteatoma by 40.0 percent, followed by central perforation with 30.0 percent. 82 percent of the patients were rated as susceptible to receiving surgical treatment.
