Resumen
The St. H elens Wastewater Treatment Plant in Tasmania, Australia utilizes multi-barrier membrane technology, called AquaMB System, to meet the requirements of strict effluent quality. The technology has been supplied by Aqua-Aerobic Systems Inc.,
Chicago, US, to be used as an alternative to membrane biological reactors (MBRs) of the wastewater treatment plant. The new multi-barrier system provides the town of St. Helens with flexible operation commissioning. This process allows its wastewater
treatment plant to discharge from each of the processes to St. George Bay. The system has extended the testing period
requirements and demonstrated reliability on meeting the more stringent effluent quality requirements. It also requires less cleaning due to the high quality effluent from the cloth media filter and demonstrates to be a better alternative to the MBR technology.
