secundaria presentaron en su mayoría niveles de depresión leves Pediatric Cardiology is the specialty based on the application of cardiological medical-surgical knowledge and work in the period of human life that extends from conception to adolescence. The Pediatric Cardiology consultation represents an important pillar in the development of comprehensive medical care in the pediatric population. The great development of diagnostic methods makes it necessary to underline their importance, since the final decision of the pediatric cardiologist must be a consequence of the integration of all the information received both through clinical examination and diagnostic methods. An observational, analytical and cross-sectional study was carried out with prospective data, the purpose of which was to determine the Cost-Benefit of the procedures performed in the inter-consultation to the cardiology service of the Robert Reid Cabral Children's Hospital, in which we used as a collection instrument for data a questionnaire, aimed at patients referred from the outpatient clinic. A sample of 60 patients was taken, of which 65 percent (65%) were male. 23 percent (23%) were in an age range of 2 - 4 years and 87 percent came from the urban area. The Departments of Surgery and General Pediatrics referred a greater number of patients to the Cardiology service with 34 and 35 percent (34% y 35%). The most observed reasons for referral to the Cardiology department were pre-surgical evaluation with 59 percent (59%), followed by heart murmur with 19 percent (19%). A total of 126 diagnostic procedures were performed, where only 8 of them resulted in alterations. Of the 60 patients corresponding to the sample, a total of 56 were without cardiac alterations and only 4 were diagnosed with heart disease. The total costs were 21,105.00 Dominican pesos, the highest expenses corresponding to the chest radiograph, with 8,811.00 pesos. Although the diagnosis process of the different heart diseases varies, the costs are high in relation to the f early identification and timely care for each patient. From the results obtained in this investigation, we have found that the cost-benefit ratio does not fluctuate conveniently for the Hospital.
